The hotel has a connection to the Old Fort Bay beach which is absolutely stunning. You have to pay $50 but you get transport there and back and the beach is AMAZING. It also has a great restaurant open from Thursdays-Sundays which is a great option for drinks and lunch/dinner. The only reason I knocked off a star was because it was quite difficult to go anywhere but the hotel/beach/Captain's Table. The property features 30 guest rooms, 6 apartments, 2 restaurants, a café, cinema, Bamford Spa, market, movement studio, gym, squash courts, library, lap pool and spacious event lawns. A luxe boutique hotel set on a palm-studded private estate in Nassau and overlooking the marina, The Island House features 30 bedrooms and suites with exclusive private beach access.

You can easily rotate your way around the three on-site restaurants for a few days without getting bored, but Nassau’s also home to a host of other dining options. A few of of the best include Arawak Cay and Lukka Kari, both serving up Bahamian flavours. Arawak Cay’s collection of food stalls tends to be a hub of hunger-based excitement (try the conch salad at Frankie Gone Bananas), and Lukka Kairi downtown has some top local dishes on the menu. So we can confirm that the gym and yoga space are both beautiful.

Both offer an extensive, hand-picked wine list, all varieties of which are found at the daily wine market. Black Sails took a real historical family and invented Eleanor's character to explore it from a different angle. Chances are if you decide to visit the Bahamas (and, frankly, why wouldn’t you?) you will fly into Nassau. It is one of the main islands to make up the jaw-droppingly beautiful Bahamas. Island House is Nassau’s latest addition and it successfully merges a sense of laid back island life with friendly service, effortless understated style, and an atmosphere of care-free living. Find Asian fare at Shima, where you can dine on tabiko rolls, sashimi, tataki, and dumplings while admiring the cyan-cast shores of Lyford Cay Marina.

With the lack of guests (I went late July), it made for a very relaxing and quiet trip. The pool was stunning and the rooms were gorgeous as well. There are two restaurants in the hotel itself (Shima and The Coffee House). The Coffee House serves coffee, you would hope, a delicious (but slightly pricey) breakfast, and pastries.

Other local restaurants with food this good are generally on the stuffy side – dining at any of the Island House’s eateries is a far more relaxed affair. Come as you are (well, within reason… your robe and slippers would be pushing it, obviously). For the best views of the sun setting over the marina, book an Ocean-View Room on the second floor; if you’re more of a wake-up-and-stumble-straight-to-the-pool type, go for a Poolside Cottage. You'll still enjoy the full fabulous MICHELIN Guide experience when you book, including our legendary service and delightful style. Edward Teach, also known as Blackbeard, is played by Ray Stevenson in Black Sails. Blackbeard is one of the most famous real-life pirates of them all.

An ECO observed the group on a bike trail, pushing through nearby brush to get access to the owls. The ECO advised the photographers of regulations prohibiting harassment of wildlife, as well as the importance of observing them at a safe distance. The ECO then taped off a barrier surrounding the tree as a reminder.

The staff were exceptional and the beach was one of the most beautiful and exclusive beaches I have ever been to. Max (Jessica Parker Kennedy) is a protitute on New Providence Island who rises up through the ranks to become a canny power broker. She isn't based on any real historical figure, and isn't from Treasure Island either. Speaking of Jack Rackham (Toby Schmitz), obviously he's another historical pirate.

Like Vane and Rackham, Anne Bonny (Clara Paget) is also based on a real-life pirate. Anne is perhaps the most famous female pirate of all time, and was an active raider of the seas during the early 1700s. Born in Ireland and married to a man named John Bonny, Anne escaped her husband to join Rackham on the high seas. The basis for her pirating as well as her relationship with Jack is drawn from history. Anne Bonny is one of the few famous pirates who actually managed to escape the Golden Age of Piracy's decline with her life.
