Preview of Marella Cruises Marella Voyager

cruise voyager

When it comes to incredible family vacations, nothing beats a Royal Caribbean cruise. These are just a few of the many wow-worthy attractions onboard — there are plenty more thrills, restaurants, and family-friendly experiences to discover during your vacation cruise getaway. As one of the best cruise ships sailing, the Voyager of the Seas offers an abundance of free onboard cruise activities & vacation experiences. Decks 5 through to 7 contain most of the entertainment, premium dining and bar lounge areas, so you’ll find most passengers gravitating to this part of the ship in the evening. The Marella Voyager deck plan does a pretty good job of separating sleeping areas from the livelier nightlife. There might be some sound spill from the Squid & Anchor into Deck 8 aft cabins, but most late-night shenanigans are contained in The Electric Rooms on Deck 12.

Next-Level Adventure

The new water park and the duo of waterslides were first introduced on the ships Liberty of the Seas and Harmony of the Seas (Oasis-class). Voyager of the Seas itinerary program is based on Australia and New Zealand cruises out of Sydney. In the summer, Voyager sails in Asia with departures out of Hong Kong and Tianjin. On relocation voyages between Australia and Asia (RepositionCruises.com), Voyager OTS visits ports in Thailand and Vietnam as well as Singapore.

Ship speed

With the ship's small passenger numbers and spacious public areas, you never feel crowded. You rarely have to stand in line or be frustrated with the wait for a drink. Though high fares mean passengers must be well-heeled to sail on Voyager, we found our fellow passengers to be surprisingly down-to-earth and friendly -- not the jet-setter types who flaunt their wealth. On casual nights, suggested clothing is sports shirts and slacks for men and sundresses or pants for women. On smart casual nights, men have to wear a jacket and a tie, while women wear dresses or pantsuits.

Voyager of the Seas cabins aren’t huge, but with so much fun to be had around the ship, you probably won't be in there much anyway. Combine affordable cabins with loads of free activities and an even number of complimentary and for-a-fee restaurants, and it's no surprise Voyager of the Seas is a hit with budget-conscious travelers. You don't need to spend a lot to have a great time onboard this ship. Deck 11 on Voyager of the Seas is the heart of the action during the day on warm-weather itineraries, with two pools, the adult-only Solarium deck and pool, and the buffet. At night, most passengers move to the lower decks for dinner, drinks and shows. Voyager was instantly the largest cruise ship in the world when she debuted (only until Explorer of the Seas entered service the following year).

Activities and things to do

Marella Voyager reviews are very positive about the ship’s nightlife upgrade, and we’re inclined to agree. The introduction of fleet-first Electric Rooms and The Exchange really take after-dark action to the next level. While a little short on wow-factor, cabins don’t disappoint and suites positively impress. If you feel strongly about expressing gratitude to the crew, Regent encourages donations to the Crew Welfare Fund at the Purser's Office; this money funds crew parties and events. Most shore excursions (90 percent, according to Regent) are included in your fare as well. These aren't simply bare-bones tours; some include experiences like biking, wine tastings and visits to museums.

Playmakers is the signature sports bar on Royal Caribbean, and the location on Navigator of the Seas features a pool table, shuffleboard, arcade games, and a private viewing area to watch sports. Other than the dining and beverage venues shared on all Voyager Class ships, Explorer of the Seas has Giovanni’s Table, The Tavern bar, and the Connoisseur Club. Other than the dining and beverage venues shared on all Voyager Class ships, Voyager of the Seas has Giovanni’s Table, The Tavern bar, and R Bar. Explorer of the Seas and Adventure of the Seas were set to be amplified in 2020 and 2021, but amplification has been postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Because of this, these two ships have some notable differences in onboard activities and dining offerings. Royal Amplified is Royal Caribbean’s program that updates ships’ amenities, staterooms, dining and lounge choices, activities, and more.

Shipboard dining options - Food and Drinks

While Adventure of the Seas has not undergone a full amplification process, she does have a few features that are usually only seen on newer or amplified ships. The Perfect Storm waterslides and Splashaway Bay were added in 2016, which offer more fun for both kids and adults onboard. Other than the dining and beverage venues shared on all Voyager Class ships, Adventure of the Seas has Giovanni’s Table, Boleros, Aquarium Bar, and Champagne Bar. The pool deck on Voyager Class ships consists of two side-by-side main pools and several jacuzzis. The Solarium is not totally enclosed, so the pool is in the sunlight and the jacuzzis are in the shade.

The Windjammer buffet restaurant offers an egg station at breakfast and a carving station at lunch. The buffet features the items offered on the main dining room menu. The Italian-themed Giovanni’s Table charges a US$20 per-person cover charge (specialty beverages, wine, beer and soda are paid separately), and offers a multi-course meal. The boat has 15 decks, of which 14 are passenger-accessible and 9 with cabins. The Royal Promenade on Deck 5 stretches from one end of the ship to the other, providing an enjoyable place to stroll and check out the action at the adjoining cafe, bars, shops, and boutiques. There are no windows, but it's always dazzlingly lit up and sets the scene for live bands during the day and dance parties at night.

EXTENDED FAMILIES

Other cruises from Galveston also visit destinations like Roatan, Honduras; Nassau, Bahamas; Belize City, Belize; and even Royal Caribbean’s private island Perfect Day at CocoCay. While cruising on Voyager of the Seas, I noticed at the trivia games, there were no prizes for the winners. My dad and I played on a team during the Rock Hits trivia and we ended up winning, but we didn't receive a prize.

There are several actions that could trigger this block including submitting a certain word or phrase, a SQL command or malformed data. We were undeniably impressed with what the Executive Suites have to offer, both in terms of size and finish – families might want to consider stretching their budget for one if possible. That said, cosier Family Balcony Cabins can sleep up to one more (five in all) and still provide a feeling of light and space.

Also held in Studio B, Battle for Planet Z is a glow-in-the-dark laser tag experience. Guests wear electronic vests and break up into teams to face off in the laser tag arena. Earn 100 bonus points if you have an upcoming confirmed cruise with us and join the MSC Voyagers up to 72 hours before sailing.

The spacious cabins are all ocean-facing, with balconies, and the ship carries a large number of even bigger (and very popular) premium suites. Another thing we noticed was how The Windjammer always seemed to be packed, especially for breakfast. I think this is because there are only three complimentary places to eat on the ship. We were able to find clean tables every morning (around 10 a.m.), but we had to hunt for them.

Additional amenities include Complimentary 24-hour Room-Service, supervised Youth program, Internet/WiFi Access, Laundry. Our ships are equipped to accommodate you regardless of your special needs. No one understands what voyaging with us is like better than our Sailors. So instead of going on about everything that makes sailing with us an epic experience, we’ll let them do the talking. For the most up-to-date testing, masking, and vaccination requirements aboard Voyager of the Seas, please refer to Royal Caribbean. You can also use Cruise Critic's guide to health requirements on the world’s major cruise lines as we know them.

Instead of sailing through the Middle East, Serenade of the Seas will transit Africa and offer its guests an immersive tour of the continent. The 42-day route will visit a number of countries around Africa, including the Seychelles, South Africa, Namibia, Ghana, and Senegal. On the final evening of the cruise, when everyone is busy packing to go home, the dress code sensibly is "relaxed casual." If you've cruised aboard Seven Seas Voyager before, you might not recognize the ship today.
